Entire Recasts For ‘Fright Night 2’

Just before Christmas, we confirmed the synopsis and lead vampire villain for the soon-to-shoot sequel to the enjoyably gory FRIGHT NIGHT remake. The plot (which is pretty much the same as the first) confirmed most major characters would return from the first film (played by Anton Yelchin, Christopher Mintz Plasse, Imogen Poots and David Tennant), but news that it would go straight-to-DVD/Blu-ray suggested they’d struggle to convince those named actors to reprise their roles.

That obviously seems the case (although they may not have even bothered asking), as three of those roles have been recast and expect the fourth also. Joining the already announced sultry British actress, Jamie Murray (as bloodsucker Gerri), are fellow Brits Will Payne as Charley Brewster, Sean Power as modern-magician Peter Vincent and Chris Waller, taking on the role of best pal ‘Evil’ Ed. Imogen Poots’ profile is certainly on the rise so the role of gorgeous girlfriend Amy is sure to go to another Brit beauty.

FRIGHT NIGHT 2 will be directed by Eduardo Rodriguez and the writer has just been confirmed as Matt Venne, whose most recent project was Stephen King mini-series BAG OF BONES starring Pierce Bronsan.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
