Schwarzenegger Claims ‘The Legend Of Conan’ Will Be Influenced By ‘300’

2013 will most certainly be known as the year Arnold Schwarzenegger made his cinematic comeback. The upcoming THE LAST STAND will mark his first lead role since 2003s TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES and we’ll also see him re-unite with fellow Expendable Sylvester Stallone in prison-escape thriller THE TOMB. He’s currently shooting END OF WATCH director David Ayer’s gritty drug cartel flick, TEN, and has a number of other projects lined up including TWINS sequel, TRIPLETS and a return to his hulking hero Conan.

Speaking about the latter project while promoting Jee-woon Kim’s actioner, which will be written and produced by Chris Morgan, the former Governor of California and shagger of housemaids, had this to say about THE LEGEND OF CONAN:

I’m excited [about it] because I’ve been hyping the idea to Universal Studios for quite some time. The important thing with the ‘The Legend of Conan’ project is to make it into an A-movie like a ‘300’ or any of those great movies, rather than a B-movie where they hack a few heads off, a few limbs off and run around with a sword.

The audience and the fans are very sophisticated. They’ve seen ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Superman’ and ‘Iron Man’ and the ‘Expendables’ as regular action movies. They’ve seen it all. So when they see a ‘Conan’ movie coming, they demand a spectacle. You have to give them great entertainment.

The film is expected to see Conan as an old man who has pushed his body to the limit in many battles but must face one more gruelling test. The film will be the third in the franchise, following John Milius’ CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982) and Richard Fleischer’s CONAN THE DESTROYER (1984). The character was created by author Robert E. Howard and the forthcoming film will not having anything to do with Marcus Nispel’s poorly-received reboot starring Jason Momoa.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

300 inspired and I thought this was a bad idea to begin with. Should be titled CONAN THE ANCIENT.

I did not have anything against the Jason Mamoa´s Conan. it was just like any other film. and despite a HUGE fan of conan and arnold, Ive always thought the conan films could have been MORE then what they were.

300 or Spartacus influence is not bad. as there needs to be alot of killing and bloodshed. with right effects…

ive been waiting for conan III aka Conan the King like forever. i wanted to see the King Conan movie, and what ever this Legend of conan is/will be. i think it is cool if arnold reprise his role.

as a TRUE conan fan, i watch the movie and like it just like i did with the old once and the “reboot”. films can always be made diffrently, but i do NOT complain like other viewers. true fans do NOT complain!!!
