Following todays announcement that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s SIN CITY prequel, A DAME TO KILL FOR as a previously unseen character, news has reached us that Christopher Meloni has also come onboard to play a ruthless, hard-boiled cop in the follow-up to the visually-stunning graphic-novel. Could he be playing a young Hartigan as his resemblance to Bruce Willis is a little uncanny?

UPDATE: Josh Brolin has also been confirmed to take the role of ‘Dwight’, previously played by Clive Owen in the first film. It’s well known the graphic novel A DAME TO KILL FOR, features the character with a alternative appearance as Dwight had facial surgery later in the SIN CITY timelines, meaning the the recasting was expected.

Meloni is familiar for his roles in television hit shows LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, TRUE BLOOD and NYPD BLUE and will soon be seen as part of Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL ensemble.

Brolin meanwhile, has just finished shooting Spike Lee’s remake of controversial Korean classic OLDBOY.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will co-star Jamie Chung, Jaime King, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen, Alexa Vega, Mickey Rourke, Dennis Haysbert and will hit cinemas 4th October.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I’m pretty sure Meloni is playing Mort, Michael Madsen’s partner after the death of Willis’ character.
