Brad Pitt Looking To Sentence Jesus To Death In ‘Pontius Pilate’

Brad Pitt keeps mixing up bigger Blockbuster type films such as WORLD WAR Z with smaller fare such as KILLING ME SOFTLY, now he’s circling a project that while financed by Warner Bros. sounds as far from Blockbuster territory as you can possibly get. PONTIUS PILATE is intended to be ‘an investigation of the politics of Judea at the time, and what it was like to be occupied by Rome’ and it will do so by following the titular character’s rise from childhood all the way to his ascension to governor.

The film will undoubtedly create a lot of controversy similar to how films depicting Jesus has in the past, and I’m always a bit wary about films like these. If the story is solid then I rarely get offended by subject matter, but I’m not sure whether this will raise any interest for me. Writer Vera Blasi has said that the script is based on 80 percent facts, which sounds a bit ludicrous to me, but hopefully it will be better than I fear. We will keep you posted here on THN as the project develops.
