We recently brought you the terrific first trailer for SHIFTY director Eran Creevy’s forthcoming moody crime thriller, WELCOME TO THE PUNCH. The film sees James McAvoy’s top cop lead an obsessive quest to track Mark Strong’s Jacob Sternwood, a notoriously clever career criminal forced back into the country when his sons bungled heist lands the youngster on life-support. Comparisons to Michael Mann’s tactically epic actioner, HEAT, appeared to be obvious with even the steely blue colour pallet certainly prominent in the footage.
Now we have the first poster for the film co-starring an impressive supporting cast of Andrea Riseborough, David Morrissey, Peter Mullan, Daniel Mays, Steve Oram and Johnny Harris. WELCOME TO THE PUNCH arrives in US cinemas from the 15th March, while a UK date is still to be confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
