Rumour has it that both Michael Fassbender (PROMETHEUS, SHAME) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (THE DARK KNIGHT) have signed on in the new comedy FRANK directed by Leonard Abrahamson (WHAT RICHARD DID) . For both actors this is an uncharacteristic move but interesting as they move away from more serious roles in the past. The comedy is about a young musician’s (Domhall Gleeson aka Bill Weasley in HARRY POTTER) entrance into a band of wild cards fronted by Fassbender as the lead singer, which should be a reason to check out the film anyway.
Gleeson’s character will be semi-autobiographical as his character is apparently modeled on a young Jon Ronson who wrote the screenplay along with Peter Straughan. We may not know much yet but it sounds intriguing with so many talented actors onboard. A release date has not been confirmed but with Fassbender and Gyllenhaal in the spotlight, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
