Wes Anderson is a writer/director who is perhaps an acquired taste. He’s a filmmaker that divides opinion amongst many, especially those of us here at THN. While I absolutely loved THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, I can see why some consider his work as pretentious and over-indulgent and I’ve still yet to see his MOONRISE KINGDOM, so I’ll reserve judgement.
His next project is THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, which will follow the troubles and tribulations of a character named Mr. Gustave, who serves as the aforementioned hotel’s composed concierge. The two-time Oscar-nominee director confirmed his cast for the forthcoming film, with many previous collaborators onboard. Yes, that includes Bill Murray.
Yes, it’s Grand Budapest Hotel. It’s a Euro movie. It’s a period picture. I can tell you the cast — maybe you already know the cast, but I can tell you properly who it is: We have Ralph Fiennes, and we have Tilda Swinton and Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, we have F. Murray Abraham and Jude Law, and we’ve got Adrien Brody, Edward Norton, Harvey Keitel, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Mathieu Amalric. And I think Owen [Wilson] is gonna have a little part, too. Oh, Saoirse Ronan has quite a big part. I’m thinking if I’ve forgotten anybody. Yeah, we have a good group.
The film will shoot later next year for a release currently slated for 26th December 2014

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
