Lead Role Of Star-Lord Down To 3 Actors For Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Guardians Of The GalaxyAt the end of November we reported on 8 actors that were being considered for the role of Star-Lord a.k.a. Peter Quill in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Now only Jim Sturgess remains from those rumoured 8 and Zachary Levi joins him as a possibility. The news of Zachary Levi being considered is a very interesting one, considering the fact he is already playing a character in the Marvel universe. Levi steps into the role of Fandral in THOR: THE DARK WORLD which has been vacated by Joshua Dallas. We’re all aware of the hullabaloo when Chris Evans became Captain America after portraying The Human Torch, but these characters would be in the same universe. Perhaps it will save Marvel some money during a crossover.

There is also word that an unnamed third actor may test for the role after the holidays. James Gunn will direct Marvel’s biggest gamble so far.

Star-Lord is a half human/half alien vigilante. He became Star-Lord, an interplanetary policeman, by an act of deception. Although he originally volunteered for the part, a NASA colleague of his was chosen instead. Quill was able to take to his place. His weapons of choice are two Kree sub-machine guns.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released 1st August 2014.
