Does Poster For Submarine Thriller ‘Phantom’ Sink Or Swim?

Outside of television, has THE X-FILES and CALIFORNICATION star David Duchovny had any real success? And no, that genius cameo in ZOOLANDER doesn’t count… and neither does completing a sex addiction treatment programme! We’ve all had those problems, right?

Duchovny’s new role however, sees him appear opposite four-time Oscar-nominee Ed Harris, as well as the much-loved cult duo William Fichtner and Lance Henriksen in Todd Robinson’s fact-based PHANTOM. The film follows the haunted Captain of a Soviet submarine who holds the fate of the world in his hands with the power to unleash WWIII.

You can catch the ‘dodgy’ teaser trailer from earlier in the year HERE, but we also have the first poster for the film set for cinemas 1st March 2013 (although a UK date is still to be confirmed). Fingers crossed we get a thriller to match or even beat the likes of CRIMSON TIDE and THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER rather than K19: THE WIDOWMAKER (even though I didn’t think Kathryn Bigelow’s notorious film was as bad as many thought).

PHANTOM co-stars straight-to-DVD regulars Sean Patrick Flanery, Johnathon Schaech and Dagmara Dominczyk, so things do not bode well.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
