We often love to look at those actors and filmmakers that we believe can be the shining light in the future of film. Championing those talented and passionate individuals eager to follow their dreams of ‘making it ‘ in the business, while they impress us with some awe-inspiring short film in the hope of being noticed. Today THN is able to bring you one such effort that has left many of us speechless.
Shot in and shown in only four days, Mat Johns has written and directed the beautiful, haunting and unforgettable RUN, in which we follow American Sam who narrates a letter he’s written to his mother played over his new life he’s created in the UK. The film does more emotionally in 6 and a half minutes than most Hollywood efforts do in their entire running time. However, be warned, it also features a shockingly twisted conclusion.
RUN stars Joseph Stacey, Gabi Herrett and John Grey, for more check out his Vimeo page on the link below. The word stunned immediately comes to mind…
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
