Despite the extra hype given in the spring by Disney that the new LONE RANGER adaptation would be scored by White Stripes rocker Jack White, it has been confirmed that this now won’t be the case. The latest trailer for the blockbuster, scheduled for a July 2013 release, has LION KING and GLADIATOR maestro Hans Zimmer’s name plastered all over the end credits. It’s not uncommon for Zimmer to work with more popular artists in his earlier soundtracks, should as Rodrigo y Gabriela in the latest PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN effort, but Disney have confirmed the departure of White from any contribution:
“Jack White, who had originally been contemplated to score and has contributed several pieces of music to the production, was logistically unavailable due to scheduling conflicts that arose when the film’s release moved to July of 2013”
There’s uncertainty in the air over whether or not this is an internal bust-up following White’s creative direction with the score or the issues lie absolutely with conflict in scheduling. It would be difficult to imagine a person alive that hasn’t seen a film that Zimmer has taken the musical direction of, remembering the intense hard work, so Disney certainly know what they are doing.
