We’ll see a new big-screen interpretation of novelist Donald E. Westlake’s vengeance-fuelled antihero PARKER (although the previous classics POINT BLANK (1967), THE OUTFIT (1973) and PAYBACK (1999), referred to the character as Walker, Macklin and Porter respectively, after Westlake refused permission the use the name), coming in the form of Brit beefcake Jason Statham.
After being double-crossed in a deal gone wrong with partners he thought he could trust, PARKER’s modern-day Robin Hood takes on criminal organisation known as ‘The Outfit’, in an effort to get even.
Following Thursday’s latest poster debut, we have an all-new international trailer, poster, featurette and set of images from the action-thriller directed by Taylor Hackford.
PARKER co-stars Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis, Clifton Collins Jr., Wendell Pierce, Nick Nolte and arrives in cinemas 25th January 2013. Looks fun and if it’s a hit, theres a wealth of source material after Westlake (writing as Richard Stark) penned 29 novels featuring the character!
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
