Ridiculous New Poster For Pain & Gain With Wahlberg And The Rock

Here’s the new poster for Michael Bay’s ‘small’ new feature, PAIN & GAIN starring ‘Marky Mark’ Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.’

We really hope that this’ll be a comedy because that poster is reeeeeee-God-damn-diculous. If it is a comedy, then the sheer silliness of the image is pretty good. If it’s serious, then Michael Bay may have entered realms of patriotic male posturing that we didn’t think even HE was capable of. The flag, the Freudian tagline, Wahlberg’s tiny vest that make his head and arms look like Donkey Kong’s, the little bit of light shining Johnson’s head that makes it look like he lost part of his face in an accident, ‘THIS IS A TRUE STORY,’ the whole thing is simple yet incredibly over the top. A bit like Bay himself.

Having read up on it, turns out PAIN & GAIN is a comedy. So that’s alright then.

It’s about two knucklehead bodybuilders who get involved in extortion, murder and kidnapping, with hilarious consequences. Ed Harris stars as the cop on their tail, he of course played the villain in Michael Bay’s THE ROCK which came out in 1996, the same year that Dwayne Johnson debuted in the WWE as The Rock! ALSO, PAIN & GAIN co-stars Kurt Angle who, in 1996, won an Olympic gold medal for wrestling and later joined the WWE where he would feud with The Rock. Coincidence? I don’t see how it could be.

PAIN & GAIN will be grunting it’s way into UK cinemas on 3rd May and US cinemas 26th April. This is a true story.
