Violent Horror/Western ‘Bone Tomahawk’ Throws Up A Terrific Cast!

There’s an exciting project on the horizon with a feature entitled BONE TOMAHAWK. It’s being described as a ‘brutally violent horror-Western’, which sounds perfect cinema-going film-fodder for this THN writer. The synopsis sees the focus on four men who attempt to save a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic oddities living on the edge of civilisation. It may sound a touch WRONG TURN/THE HILLS HAVE EYES but the genre-splicing setting adds an extra dimension – add to the fantastic main cast currently being assembled!

DEADWOOD and JUSTIFIED’s superb Timothy Olyphant has just been confirmed to take the lead in S. Craig Zahler directorial debut as John Brooder, surmised as ‘an eloquent sharpshooter who moved to the frontier in order to satisfy the dark impulses that lie beneath his polished exterior’. He’ll join the already onboard (Snake Plisskin himself) Kurt Russell, BOYS DON’T CRY’s Peter Sarsgaard, DEXTER actress Jennifer Carpenter and Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins.

It shoots early next year, I’m excited…  How about you?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
