While I love a good comic-book or superhero movie as much as the next, I wouldn’t consider myself a so-called ‘geek’ when it comes to the most intricate plot arcs, characters and details. Yes, I was one of those who loved THE AVENGERS, yet had no clue who that villain was in the post-credits sequence whilst others gasped. What I know about characters like Superman, Batman and The Hulk, I’ve learned from Saturday morning cartoons, television shows and films. So, with this latest news regarding the forthcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE movie and the potential ‘big-bad’, it comes with a bit of mystery for me as once again I’ve no bloody clue.
Yes, while we wait for a cast and director to be confirmed for Warner Bros’ superhero ensemble, we have word that the villain in screenwriter Will Beall’s script is rumored to be… Darkseid. If you know who he is you’re a better man than I (or someone with too much time on your hands). My research has found him to have been originally introduced in the Superman comics in 1970 with an array of helpful traits including incredible strength, immortality, intellect and telekinesis with his deadliest weapon being the ‘Omega’ force which allows him to control cosmic energy using bursts of energy from his eyes.
Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL is expected to set the film up (news given last week), so what are your thoughts, as we’d love to know!
