First Images Of Fantasy ‘Seventh Son’ Starring Jeff Bridges & Julianne Moore

When I heard Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore were reuniting, I was of course hoping for a THE BIG LEBOWSKI reunion. However, their latest effort couldn’t be further from that seminal piece of work. SEVENTH SON is a fantasy adventure based on a Young Adult novel. Bridges plays a knight, Master John Gregory, who recruits a seventh son of a seventh son as his apprentice. Together they must battle Moore’s Mother Malkin, a witch whom was imprisoned centuries earlier.

Fantasy films are always difficult to set apart on their plots alone, so I’ll wait for a trailer before making a judgement as to whether this is something to be excited for. Bridges certainly seems excited, discussing his role and wearing those costumes:

He’s an interesting cat. He’s appreciated for keeping evil away, but he’s also a frightening figure to the townspeople. When you mess around with darkness, some of that gets in you, too. By the time you get through getting your clothes and makeup on and getting to the sets you’re pretty much there back in the Dark Ages.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory.

In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son

SEVENTH SON is released on 18th October 2013. It stars Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Kit Harrington, Alicia Vikander, Olivia Williams, and Djimon Hounsou.
