He wanted to get away from music, you may even say he wanted to fly away, but we’re now hearing through the grapevine that Lenny Kravitz may be in the running to portray soul legend Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic. MIDNIGHT LOVE is set to focus on Gaye’s later years, with a lot of focus on Gaye’s struggle with alcohol and tax issues. No doubt the film will culminate in the murder of Marvin Gaye by his own father. Kravitz has certainly proved himself as a decent actor in films such as PRECIOUS and THE HUNGER GAMES, but can he pull off a legend like Gaye? Justin Temple may direct the film, but like the two films based on Truman Capote, CAPOTE (2005) and INFAMOUS (2006) , or the two Alfred Hitchcock biopics THE GIRL (2012) and HITCHCOCK (2013), there is another Marvin Gaye film in the works. Cameron Crowe’s Gaye biopic is still in development and has been for years, but it is suggested that Terence Howard will front that film. Sorry I couldn’t squeeze a reference to ‘Sexual Healing’ in there anywhere.
