I’m always looking for the next big thing in horror and it’s one genre I grew up engrossed in the frights of Romero, Carpenter and Craven. While the likes of these ‘greats’ are few and far between, there are a some that I hold hope will make my horror intake all the more exciting in the years to come. MIDNIGHT SON tells the story of Jacob (Zak Kilberg), a young man confined to a life of detachment because of a rare skin disorder that prevents him from being exposed to sunlight. His lifestyle takes a different direction when he meets and falls for bartender Mary (Maya Parish). However, Jacob’s behaviour becomes increasingly unusual as he attempts to deal with the effects of his extreme condition, which forces him to drink human blood as a local Detective (Larry Cedar) closes in on him as a suspect in a series of grisly murders.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
