Possibly the most uncomfortable cinematic experience I’ve ever had, came at this years Grimmfest event with James Cullen Bressack’s shocker HATE CRIME (read our review here). The story of a family’s night of celebration that soon turns into the most horrifying experience imaginable is expecting a UK release in the near future, which I can promise will push your viewing limits. We have an interview with Bressack coming soon, but in the meantime we have a press release confirming the directors next project and one we hope is a little easier on the senses…
From writer / producer Brandon Sites (Fat Kid Massacre: The Short Film Version) and director James Cullen Bressack (Hate Crime) comes “The New Neighbor”, a film that combines elements of horror, mystery and erotic thriller to create a thrilling horror movie experience. “The New Neighbor” is set to start filming in the VA area January 14 with filming ending in late January. Heading up the cast of “The New Neighbor” is scream queen Kaylee Williams (Porkchop 3D, Slices of Life) and raising horror star Ryan Sandefur (MTV’s Teen Wolf: Season 2, Fat Kid Massacre).
“The New Neighbor” is about a college student (Kaylee Williams) & her brother who notice a puzzling epidemic sweeping their neighborhood timed to the arrival of a new neighbor. Everyone starts to turns pale, they act anemic, they avoid sunlight and they might have a strange bite mark on their neck. They become convinced that the new neighbor is slowly turning everyone into vampires. To complicate matters, sis (Williams) finds herself inexplicably drawn to the new neighbor (Ryan Sandefur). Is she a moth being drawn to the flame? Or is there a greater evil at work?
Brandon Sites on The New Neighbor: Instead of just focusing on vampires biting people, I wanted to focus on things such as secrecy, mystery, emotional vampirism, and sexuality – all things inherent to vampires. I think that’s what is going to make our vampire film different from other films in the genre.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
