A sequel to the brilliant South Korean monster movie THE HOST is creeping up for a release late next year. THE HOST 2 is a follow-up to director Bong Joon-ho’s 2006 record-breaking international hit centred on an gigantic amphibious monster that surfaced from the Han River and began collecting and killing innocent individuals. The film also garnered critical praise for its political commentary as well as its touching humour and loving family dynamic who risk all to pursue the creature to rescue their young daughter.
THE HOST 2 is this time directed by Park Myeong-chan and we have the first thrilling footage coming via incredible visual FX company Micrograph, which also gives us a breakdown of the impressive before and after effects on show. I can’t wait!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
