Here’s the first full length trailer for EPIC, the new animated feature from the makers of ICE AGE and RIO.
We previously had a spectacular looking teaser which put the humour on the back burner and focused on the stunning visuals aided by some glorious music. This new trailer gives us more story and dialogue and boy oh boy, this actually looks rather special. It does have a whiff of FERNGULLY (1992) with a hint of HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS (1989), but hey. Those two flicks are kids’ classics, thus EPIC emits a pleasant enough aroma, as far as THN are concerned.
The story is that of a young girl who is magically shrunk and transported to a forest where she meets some tiny soldiers. They must do battle with some other tiny… well, we’re not sure what they are but they want to destroy the forest. Her dad’s a scientist, there’s a giant pug and Beyonce is in it. Sold? We are too.
The eclectic voice cast includes Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Beyonce Knowles, Christoph Waltz, Aziz Ansari, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Judah Friedlander, Johnny Knoxville and the world’s ugliest rapper Pitbull, but you can’t have everything.

EPIC is directed by Chris Wedge (ROBOTS, ICE AGE) and is released in UK and US cinemas on 24th May 2013.
