Dark Comedy ‘Killing Winston Jones’ Casting Revealed

AVATAR, DODGEBALL and HATCHET actor Joel David Moore is turning his attention to making his directorial debut with dark independent comedy KILLING WINSTON JONES. He has previous filmmaking experience after co-directing and starring in 2007 obsession thriller SPIRAL, and it looks as if he’s gathered a decent cast for his own first feature.

THAT 70s SHOW star Danny Masterson will take the lead as a sixth-grade English teacher who is attempting to get the recently built gymnasium named after his father. Richard Dreyfuss will take the role of his father but the spanner in the works comes with the fact that the person the new construction is named after must be dead — leading to a bitter battle between Masterson and an old rival (to be played by Danny Glover) over the naming rights. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and BLADES OF GLORY star Jon Heder is also joining the film.

KILLING WINSTON JONES is expected to begin shooting on Monday, with a release for later next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
