Since his small role in the opening of J.J. Abrams STAR TREK reboot, Chris Hemsworth ascent to superstar actor has been nothing short of astonishing. He’s soon to be seen as a hero in the RED DAWN remake and as racing driver James Hunt in F1 biopic RUSH, not to mention currently shooting superhero sequel THOR: THE DARK WORLD. Add to the recent news Steven Spielberg wants Hemsworth to headline his sci-fi epic ROBOPOCALYPSE, contractual obligations forcing a return for a follow-up to SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN and the small matter of a little production entitled THE AVENGERS 2, means he’s going to be busy for the next few years.
Those years are about to get a little longer as he’s looking at joining writer/director Stephen Gaghan’s epic all-star crime-thriller CANDY STORE, which is set to co-star Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt, Jamie Foxx, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Bradley Cooper and, hopefully, Christoph Waltz. He’s also being touted for the lead role in Steve McQueen biopic TRIUMPH: AKA 40 SUMMERS AGO opposite his younger brother and rising star Liam, which will centre on the friendship between the Cooler King and his long term stunt double Bud Elkins.
As always, we’ll keep you up to date on all projects. Excited?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
