Whovians that love a side of Cybermen in their DOCTOR WHO episodes are in for a treat!
A slew of behind-the-scenes photos featuring the menacing villains generated buzz when they popped up on Tumblr earlier this week. Those pesky Cybermen, who have mercilessly hunted The Doctor since their series introduction in 1966, will return in the upcoming seventh season episode, “The Last Cyberman.”
So, what do we know based on the images? Well, not much so far. Except, of course, that “The Last Cyberman” is potentially one of the most eagerly-anticipated episodes of DOCTOR WHO’s eight-episode run in spring 2013. Acclaimed author (and longtime DOCTOR WHO fan) Neil Gaiman penned the episode; his first since “The Doctor’s Wife”, the award-winning fan-favourite from the sixth season. With director Stephen Woolfendon slated to direct the episode, the behind-the-scenes images reveal little about the premise, but that hasn’t stopped Whovians from flooding the Internet with theories on how they believe the episode will unfold.
Regardless of how “The Last Cyberman” plays out, fans will undoubtedly be along for the ride as The Doctor (Matt Smith) and his new companion, Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), fight to save the universe.
