Will Ferrell And Liam Neeson Join LEGO Movie

The rather impressive voice cast of LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE keeps on growing and becoming increasingly badass. Latest to join the film is Will Ferrell (ANCHORMAN) and Liam Neeson (TAKEN) who will play the two main antagonists, President Business (Ferrell) and his main henchman, Bad Cop (Neeson). Also signing up is Nick Offerman (PARKS AND RECREATION) and Alison Brie (COMMUNITY) who will respectively play a revenge seeking pirate and a mysterious member of the protagonist’s team. Here’s the synopsis so far:

The film follows Emmett (Chris Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the the mythical Master Builder, the key to saving the world. Suddenly Emmett finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant hellbent on gluing the universe together.

With Will Arnett voicing Batman (and Channing Tatum possibly voicing Superman), along with Morgan Freeman voicing a sage mystic, this film sounds crazy enough that it just might work. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were behind the surprise comedy hit 21 JUMP STREET and I reckon that this has the potential for being a surprise animation hit.

LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It stars the voices of Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Chris Pratt, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Elizabeth Banks and Will Arnett. It is scheduled for a US release on 7th February 2014, while a UK release date is still TBD.
