‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Has Seven New Banners!

Three more trips to Middle-Earth are now planned for the next couple of years as we follow the early adventures of Bilbo Baggins. Martin Freeman plays the reluctant explorer as the younger, hairy footed-hero who’s plucked out by magical wizard Gandalf to play his part and help a band of dwarves reclaim their treasure from evil dragon Smaug. Along the way he’ll meet some familiar friends and foes, he’ll stumble upon ‘The One Ring’ and have him return to The Shire a very changed Hobbit.

We now have seven new banners from the first part of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy based on the iconic novel from J.R.R. Tolkien, beginning with THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, released 13th December.

The opening prequel sees the return of Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm and Andy Serkis alongside newcomers James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Barry Humphries, Billy Connelly, Lee Pace, Aiden Turner and Graham McTavish.

THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and THE HOBBIT: THERE & BACK AGAIN will follow 13th December 2013 and 18th July 2014 respectively.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
