Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Snowpiercer’ Picked Up By The Weinstein Company

Bong Joon Ho, the stunning director behind classics such as MEMORIES OF MURDER (2003), THE HOST (2006), and MOTHER (2009), makes his English language debut next year with SNOWPIERCER. The film focuses on a world experiencing a new ice age and a train full of passengers learning to survive and cooperate. The film, which stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, and John Hurt, has just had its US rights acquired by The Weinstein Company. Although we’re still waiting on a specific release date, you can expect it sometime next year.

The film has not only formed an impressive cast, lead by a phenomenal director, but it also deals with some pretty hard hitting social issues, with the ice age coming about due to a failed experiment to stop global warming. As the passengers on the train, which travels the world, is the centre of a class struggle revolution, you can expect Man Vs. Nature and Man Vs. Man themes to run strongly through this feature.

SNOWPIERCER will be released next year. It stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, and Song Kang Ho.
