New Trailer & Artwork For Supernatural Fantasy ‘Beautiful Creatures’

Young adult novels, particularly those with a follow-up story (or stories) have become increasingly suspect when brought to the big-screen. After THE TWILIGHT SAGA made many a bucket-load of bucks, it’s not hard to see why. The suspicion comes from whether the source material will be adapted in the right way, to appease fans already familiar and to appeal to newcomers. I haven’t read any of Stephenie Meyer’s TWILIGHT novels but if they’re as yawnsome as the films, I struggle to see how they appeal to anyone, let alone the fans.

Still, I’m always willing to give a good tale brought to life a try and hopefully BEAUTIFUL CREATURES – another supernatural tale of blossoming love in a world of witchcraft and the like – will be special. This has a fantastic cast, so fingers crossed Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s novels are not as lazily adapted as others I have already mentioned.

We have the new international trailer (as well as the first for those who may have missed it first time around) and new artwork for the film, written and directed by Richard LaGravenese.

BEAUTIFUL CREATURES is released in cinemas 13th February 2013 and stars Jeremy Irons, Emmy Rossum, Emma Thompson, Alice Englert, Kyle Gallner, Viola Davis, Alden Ehrenreich and Margo Martindale.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
