Director Sacha Gervasi (THE TERMINAL, MY DINNER WITH HERVE) invites us to become the ultimate voyeurs in his look behind the camera lens with one of film history’s most iconic men. HITCHCOCK tells the story of the intense relationship between Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren), who was an enormous yet practically anonymous influence on his work. She was also an unwaveringly loyal partner in life despite his obsession with blond femme fatales, such as Janet Leigh (Scarlett Johansen). The film is set in 1959 during the conception and controversy over PSYCHO, one of Hitchocks’s most iconic projects which at the time was one of the most shocking films to ever hit cinema screens.
Written by John McLaughlin (BLACK SWAN) and based on the book ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’ by Stephen Rebello. The inimitable Anthony Hopkins takes on with astounding ability (from what we’ve already seen from the recent trailer and feature bellow) the mammoth role of such a complex character, whilst Helen Mirren gives a feisty performance as collaborator and wife full of dry wit and sincerity. Also starring in the film are Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel, Michael Stuhlbarg, James D’Arcy.
Take a look at the feature below too see new scenes in the movie and fantastic commentary from the cast and director.
HITCHCOCK will be released in the UK on the 8th February 2013 and released in theaters in the US on the 23rd November 2012.
