Terry Gilliam never seems to have an easy ride when bringing films to the screen. So it’s even more surprising to see THE ZERO THEOREM coming together so quickly. The film stars Christoph Waltz as a computer hacker searching for the meaning of life. Matt Damon co-stars in a smaller role, and here are the first set pics of Damon, revealing him to have a quirky look. He looks like a cross-between Ted Danson and Karl Lagerfeld. The look came about after Damon had to shave his head again for some ELYSIUM reshoots. Gilliam, being Gilliam, decided this was a great chance to give Damon a new-do. Meanwhile you can also see Waltz sporting a bald head.
I’m always up for a bit of Gilliam, and with the themes of Orwellian rule being something he has handled excellently in BRAZIL (1985), I’m sure this will be another interesting and imaginative film.
THE ZERO THEOREM is yet to settle on a release date. It stars Christoph Waltz, Matt Damon, Ben Whishaw, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, Melanie Thierry, and Lucas Hedges.
