Jared Leto Returning To The Big Screen With ‘Dallas Buyer’s Club’

He’s been busy being a rockstar for the past few years, but Jared Leto is now returning back to the world of acting as he’s been cast alongside Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in new AIDS drama DALLAS BUYER’S CLUB.

Leto is probably most well known for his roles in AMERICAN PSYCHO, FIGHT CLUB and PANIC ROOM, yet most recently has been known for selling out world tours heading rock band 30 Seconds to Mars. Although Leto did find time to combine his two passions when he directed the 30 Seconds to Mars documentary ARTIFACT which won the People’s Choice Award this year at Toronto.

DALLAS BUYER’S CLUB is a story based on true events that center on Ron Woodroof (McConaughey), who was given six months to live after contracting AIDS in 1986 and spent the next six years smuggling medicine into the U.S. to help himself and fellow sufferers. Leto will play Rayon, a cross-dressing fellow AIDS patient who meets and assists Ron in the Hospital.

Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack adapted Woodroof’s story for the screen. Robbie Brenner is producing with Rachel Rothman-Winter and Nathan Ross

These roles could potentially be career defining roles for both Leto and McConaughey so it will be interesting to see how this movie turns out.
