ELFQUEST isn’t your biggest brandname comic. The cult favoruite by Wendy & Richard Pini started life as a comic back in 1978. It is the story of a community of elves on a planet similar to primitive-Earth. Producers Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have acquired the movie rights, which is a good sign as the two were responsible for ELFQUEST: A FAN IMAGINING, which you can watch below.
According to Thorpe and Rhodes, the official website www.elfquest.com gets 10 million hits a month. This is a site well worth checking out, as every single ELFQUEST adventure has been uploaded. That’s over 6500 pages. Co-creator of ELFQUEST Wendy Pini had this to say about the upcoming feature:
With their deep love and understanding of the property, they [Thorpe & Rhodes] represent a new direction for ELFQUEST…new creative energy and new connections in the larger media.
The rights recently lapsed, releasing them from Warner Bros. who had attempted bringing ELFQUEST to the big screen.
