After high-profile disasters and straight-to-DVD guff like BATMAN FOREVER, ALEXANDER and anything he co-stars with 50-bloody-Cent (Why oh why?!), it’s sometimes easy to forget Val Kilmer had some genuine acting clout and made some absolute classics (I always implore people to check out his awesome performance in SPARTAN, KISS KISS BANG BANG and, of course, HEAT). Well, hopefully we’ll see the TOP GUN-star giving a memorable performnace in Terrence Malick’s latest untitled movie, which is currently shooting.
His epic fellow cast members can only help with Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender co-starring in the story of two intertwining love triangles, focused on obsession and betrayal and set against the Texas music scene.
Check out a rather out-of-control Kilmer on stage (not literally we hope) with rock band Black Lips and a smooch between Fassbender and Mara.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
