ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH is not a sequel to the John Carpenter films, unfortunately. Instead, it’s an animated comedy that sees two alien brothers captured and placed in Area 51. In Area 51 they meet up with some other alien creatures and must do what is stated in the title. ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH is from the team behind HOODWINKED and its sequel. HOODWINKED was one of the most original and genuinely funny animated comedies ever, whereas its sequel was a painful mess. So who knows what to expect from this outing. I got a few chuckles from the trailer, and the vocal work sounds excellent. But I feel as though I’ve seen the entire film after watching the trailer.
ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH is released 14th February 2013 in the US. It stars Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Craig Robinson, Jane Lynch, James Gandolfini, and Rob Corddry.
