Possibly the director’s big screen swan song before he departs for self-imposed retirement, Steven Soderbergh’s fourth film in the last year (after HAYWIRE, CONTAGION and HBO TV movie BEHIND THE CANDELABRA) is said to be his last at the helm.
SIDE EFFECTS sees Rooney Mara’s character Emily struggling to deal with an addiction to prescription drugs she’s given to control anxiety over her husband’s impending release from prison. Complicating matters is the relationship with her doctor and his sinister motivations for medicating Emily…
This first trailer suggests we’re in for a nail-biting psychological thriller, with a cast that includes Soderbergh regulars Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
SIDE EFFECTS hits the US 8th February 2013 and arrives on our shores 15th March.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
