New Names Added To Kennedy-Based ‘Parkland’

Way back in August we brought you the news that Tom Hanks and his production partner Gary Goetzman would be producing PARKLAND, a film focusing on the assassination of the American president John F. Kennedy. Today, we can add to this exciting news by announcing that three superb names have been added to the cast: Paul Giamatti (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN), Billy Bob Thornton (ARMAGEDDON) and Jacki Weaver (ANIMAL KINGDOM).

PARKLAND (based on the book Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, written by Vincent Bugliosi) will be directed by first-timer Peter Landesman. It’s not clear who will play whom, but we do know that the film will depict the events of the shooting and what happened afterwards at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where Kennedy died.

Filming is expected to start soon, with a scheduled release date for late 2013 (to possibly tie-in with the 50th anniversary of his death).

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.

The real Parkland Hospital has gone down the tubes recently. In fact, it may be the worst hospital in the history of the U.S.

They’ve been sued multiple times by the US government for Medicare fraud, fined a million dollars by state health care agencies for repeated patient safety violations, and kicked out of the Medicare and Medicaid programs. They’ve had to fire all their top senior leadership and replace almost their entire board.
