Ghostbusters 3 Delayed Again!

To most of us here at THN HQ, this latest news surrounding GHOSTBUSTERS 3 comes as a welcome reprieve. While we recently brought you confirmation that a third outing for Ray Stanz (Dan Ackroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zedmore (Ernie Hudson) was set to shoot early next summer without Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman, we’ve learned production will most likely start much later next year. Word is the film is now eyeing a start date for November 2013, although any shooting schedule will not be finalised until March 2013.

Do we really want another GHOSTBUSTERS without its leading man – the real reason the first film holds such fondness for us all now? Of course not, and yet I still have sneaky suspicion all these delays are to tempt Murray into submission (on what he calls ‘a dire script’, recently touched up by MEN IN BLACK 3’s Etan Cohen) and if all else fails – a reboot/remake featuring a whole new cast (barring the odd cameo from desperate Dan). No word yet if original director Ivan Reitman will still be involved but as ever, we’ll keep you posted.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
