First Look At The New Book Of The Dead From ‘Evil Dead’ Remake!

Fede Alvarez’ forthcoming remake of Sam Raimi’s iconic splatterfest THE EVIL DEAD can’t come quick enough for us horror hounds. The first image and disturbingly intense trailer show a whole lot of promise, with enough nods to the original franchise, which us fans know had as many laughs as it did litres of blood spilt. This new direction certainly seems as if it’s going to amp up the gore and scares, and come April 2013, I’ve a feeling we’re going to be pleasantly surprised at this latest horror remake.

Below we have our first close-up look at the new Necronomicon, or the ‘Book of the dead’ – the familiar tome bound in human flesh and inked in blood. And once those words are uttered, the book will unleash the demonic deadites, ready to prey on our new cast of characters. Not worth splitting your tongue over, surely?

EVIL DEAD will terrify moviegoers on the 12th April 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore and Lou Taylor Pucci

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
