Frodo Baggins lookalike Elijah Wood is set to produce and star in the horror film entitled COOTIES, from the writer of SAW, Leigh Whannel. Wood will be producing via his horror company The Woodshed (I see what he did there), which has recently announced two other projects, TOAD ROAD and A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT. The script for COOTIES was co-written by Ian Brennan who is responsible for creating GLEE.
COOTIES will see a mysterious virus which turns people into raging savages, make its way through an isolated elementary school. Whannel described his motivations for writing COOTIES:
My friend Ian Brennan and I wanted to write a film about one of life’s most universal experiences – hatred for precocious, adorable children. And so we started work on COOTIES a film about a virus that turns school children into monsters and therefore makes it okay to beat them up with hockey sticks.
Sounds fair enough. The film will be directed by Ace Norton and produced PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 1-4 producer Steven Schneider.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
