It comes as no surprise that producer and star Tom Cruise is already putting plans in motion for a fifth MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE entry. The Brad Bird-directed GHOST PROTOCOL was the franchise’s biggest grossing film yet (close to $700 million, with its critical reception not too shabby either) and Cruise has promised to stick with the heroic character of Ethan Hunt for as long as his body is willing and audiences demand the character. Whilst promoting his latest action-thriller, Crusie gave this update about the prospect of another mission involving the IMF…
We’re already working on different [scenes]. Talking conceptually, I love traveling around promoting different movies because I’m always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways… coming up with different sequences. I started ‘Mission: Impossible’ hoping I could make many of them, It’s a character that I can grow with. I’ll make as many as people want to see.
He has currently immersed himself into the action/sci-fi double of Joseph Kosinski’s OBLIVION and Doug Liman’s ALL YOU NEED IS KILL with rumours suggesting he’s also being lined up for a reboot of VAN HELSING and western remake THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
However, we’ll next see him as ex-military detective JACK REACHER on the 26th December as the title character based on Lee Child’s hard-boiled hero, with Christopher McQuarrie at the helm.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
