We’re hearing very early on on this Sunday morning that SKYFALL, the 23rd 007 adventure and the third to star Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond, is set to break UK box-office opening records in the United Kingdom. Deadline are reporting that the film, directed by Sam Mendes, is set to hit £20 million in the UK alone which equates to around $32 million. The record for the biggest all time opening in the UK and Ireland is $38.3 million, which was set by HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2 a couple of years back. If it does break the £20 mark, it will smash Craig’s two previous Bond efforts by a mile (CASINO ROYALE took £13.3m while QUANTUM OF SOLACE made £15.3 in its opening weekend).

SKYFALL is also open in other European territories but doesn’t open in the US until 7th November. We’ll update this page as more news breaks about this weekend’s UK numbers.
