Stephen King certainly knows how to write with the big screen in mind. How many adaptations have there been now? A million? Or is it merely several hundred thousand? Either way, the latest story penned by the master craftsman has just found a director. MERCY, based on King’s short story ‘Gramma’, will be directed by Peter Cornwell whose previous works include the 2009 horror THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT.
The story follows two young boys who learn that their grandmother is a witch, her powers gained by a devilish pact with the Ancient Ones. Sort of like Buffy’s Willow: the later years. Already on board are Matt Greenberg who will write the screenplay, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’s Jason Blum who will produce with McG and Mary Viola and Frances O’Connor who is set to star, although it is yet unknown which role she will fill.
It’s easy to see why King is always caught laughing – he’s probably on his way to the bank.
