Yesterday we brought you a sneak peak at Fede Alvarez’ forthcoming remake of Sam Raimi’s gory cult-classic THE EVIL DEAD, in which a group of friends unleashed the deadite demons of the Necronomicon during a night in a creepy cabin in the woods. The re-imagining will see Jane Levy’s Mia and her attempts to undergo a drug and alcohol detox with the help of her friends, before unearthing that ‘Book Of the Dead’ in the familiar cellar-dwelling location…
The new EVIL DEAD will be a much more intense and shocking vision and one that had fans at this months New York Comic-Con screaming and cheering at the blood-soaked carnage.
The great thing is, the team behind the original film (Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell), are producing and this grisy, gore-some trailer shows all the hallmarks of a homage with an all-new fresh horrific spin. Brutal, graphic, sick and twisted? You bet!
EVIL DEAD will terrify moviegoers on the 12th April 2013 and co-stars Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore and Lou Taylor Pucci

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I generally really don’t go for stuff like this, but I might give it a go.
And then get plastered afterwards.

It just looks like another generic horror film, as much as I hate to say it. Where’s the tongue-in-cheek humour? That’s what separated Raimi’s EVIL DEAD from all of the other zombie-esque movies of the time… that and Bruce Campbell! And I certainly didn’t see the God of chins in this bland excuse for a trailer.
Pish!
Sorry – I’ll pick my teddy bear up and be quiet now, but it needed to be said. I’ll give it a chance, I suppose.
