As terrifying as it may seem, the world is filled with people wrongly convicted of crimes they never committed. Most people will be familiar with the PARADISE LOST documentaries, but now director Ken Burns brings us a look as THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE. The story of five young black and Latino boys convicted of raping a woman. After they served between 6 and 13 years, a serial rapist would later confess to the crimes. The documentary will show how scary justice can be when the police are under such pressure to make arrests and get confessions. This looks like one of those important documentaries which will shed new light on a terrible injustice, as well as bringing the case to the attention of a new generation.
THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE has been doing the festival circuit and will be released in the US 23rd November.
