An autopsy report released by the LA county coroner confirms that TOP GUN director Tony Scott was not suffering from brain cancer, or any other serious underlying illness, as they first thought. The toxicology tests in fact show that Scott had ‘therapeutic levels’ of the sleeping pill Lunestra and the anti-drepressant Mirtazipine in his system, when he jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge on August 19.
An autopsy report lists the directors death as suicide and says that the cause was multiple blunt force injuries from jumping off a bridge into Los Angeles harbour.
These reports show that Scott was perhaps certainly more troubled than anyone, family or colleagues, actually realised. The coroner’s office also previously said that Scott left notes behind in his car, mostly messages to friends and loved ones, yet none explained why he might have wanted to kill himself.
