STAR WARS actor Ewan McGregor is set to star in new film BORN TO BE KING, and starring opposite him is Kate Hudson, who is sticking to the genre for which she’s best known in this romantic comedy.
The plot revolves around an extra (McGregor) who strikes an uncanny resemblance to a movie star, and a Hollywood starlet (Hudson) who’s in a feud with her co-star and begins to fall for the extra.
The film is written and directed by Peter Capaldi, who’s short film FRANZ KAFTA’S IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE won an Oscar. Dan Lupovitz and Alexandra Stone are to produce with Elaine Collins co-producing and Ron Fogelman and William Parente executive producing. Indomina Releasing is to handle the sales rights to the film.
McGregor who was most recently seen in Lasse Hallstrom’s SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, and will next be seen on the big screen in Bryan Singer’s newly retitled JACK THE GIANT SLAYER. While Hudson last appeared in Luke Greenfield’s SOMETHING BORROWED.
If Hudson and McGregor manage to get the chemistry right, then perhaps this film has the potential to be more than just another romantic comedy.
Production is set to begin in early 2013 in London.
