The reboot of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic ROBOCOP has seen a small number of blips previous to and during production. Well, let’s not beat around the bush, it has been one almighty bloody disaster after another, with the latest news being the film’s release date has been put back eight months. To mention all the other problems could take a whole day of shooting and they just couldn’t take another hit, bless ’em.
I’m finally about to shed some welcome light on Jose Padhila’s forthcoming re-imagining with easily the clearest and impressive set of behind-the-scenes stills and first footage to feature the ‘future of law enforcement’ and the new futuristic world he’ll inhabit. There are more shots of him riding his new Robocycle and the controversial metallic body suit.
THE KILLING’s Joel Kinnaman takes over Peter Weller’s iconic role of Detroit cyborg cop Alex Murphy, with a supporting cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earl Haley, Jay Baruchel, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jennifer Ehle and Michael Keaton on villain duties. ROBOCOP will now reach cinemas early 2014 barring another catastrophe!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
