They were rumoured as being shortlisted for the gig over a year ago, but now it’s official. David Lindsay-Abaire is taking on screenwriting duties for the Sam Raimi produced remake of POLTERGEIST. Lindsay-Abaire wrote the upcoming RISE OF THE GUARDIANS and also had a go at Sam Raimi’s ill-fated SPIDER-MAN 4. Earlier this year Lindsay-Abaire said he wasn’t sure if he wanted to write the remake, but since Sam Raimi asked him personally to take it on, it seems as though he just couldn’t say no. Not only did they try to collaborate on SPIDER-MAN 4 but Raimi once attempted to direct the film version of Lindsay-Abaire’s play THE RABBIT HOLE. We’ll finally get to see how they work together early next year, as Lindsay-Abaire wrote Raimi’s upcoming OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL. Lindsay-Abaire has also confirmed that he is starting from scratch with POLTERGEIST, and hasn’t read any previous scripts.
