Those looking for a respite from the usual cinematic blockbusters should watch the latest trailer for the award-winning documentary CALL ME KUCHU.
Directed by Katherine Fairfax Wright and Malika Zouhali-Worrall, the feature recounts the courageous efforts of David Kato and his fellow LGBTQ activists in Uganda as they fight for equality in their own country. They come face-to-face with fundamentalist Christians, tabloid journalists and politicians who support an anti-homosexual bill that would sentence gay, lesbian bisexual and transgendered people to either life in prison or death.
CALL ME KUCHU has already won a handful of awards at international film festivals, including Best International Feature at the 2012 Hot Docs Festival in Toronto and Best Documentary at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival.
The film will hit UK cinemas on 2 November 2012, here’s your trailer:
