After the first trailer debuted at New York Comic-Con today, this first image from the all-new EVIL DEAD has surfaced online. Whilst the image will be relatively familiar to fans of the original Sam Raimi movies, this deadite looks altogether more sinister and much-less cartoonish. The actress is Jane Levy, of SHAMELESS and SUBARATORY fame. Levy takes over the lead role from Ash (Bruce Campbell) – she’ll play Mia, who heads to an isolated cabin with a group of friends and finds the Book of the Dead before… well, you can work out the rest.

EVIL DEAD is directed Fede Alvarez and co-stars Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore. It arrives in cinemas April 2013.
